Speed
Background
Reading Scale
  • OLED <1ms — virtually no trail
  • TN 1ms / Fast IPS 4-5ms — excellent
  • Standard IPS 5-8ms — good
  • VA dark transitions 15-40ms — visible smear
Overdrive tip: a bright corona behind the moving block means OD is set too high — step it down.

Professional Ghosting Test

Three speeds

Office scroll / video / FPS gaming presets cover every daily motion scenario.

Multiple backgrounds

Black, gray and dark VA-smear scenes expose panels slow at dark transitions.

Overshoot mode

High-contrast edges make Overdrive coronas clearly visible.

What Is Ghosting?

GtG response

Gray-to-gray pixel transition time. Specs quote best case; dark transitions are often 3-5x slower.

MPRT

Moving Picture Response Time includes backlight persistence — closer to perceived blur.

VA smear

VA panels transition slowly out of black; dark objects leave comet trails in dim scenes.

How to Use

03

Watch the trail

Follow the block edge: longer trail = slower response; bright corona = overshoot.

Panel Response Comparison

TN

Esports veteran

  • + 1ms response
  • + Cheap
  • − Poor colors
  • − Narrow angles

IPS

Mainstream all-rounder

  • + Great colors
  • + Fast IPS 4-5ms
  • − Weak dark contrast

VA

High-contrast media

  • + 3000+ contrast
  • + Deep blacks
  • − 15-40ms dark smear

OLED

Response king

  • + <1ms instant
  • + No ghosting
  • − Burn-in risk
  • − ABL dimming

Optimization Tips

Start Overdrive at the medium OSD level; step down if coronas appear.

On VA panels, raise black stabilizer in dark games to reduce smear visibility.

Ghosting worsens at low VRR framerates — keep fps mid-range or enable LFC.

BFI reduces motion blur but halves brightness and may add flicker.

  • Normal room lighting is fine
  • Track the block with your eyes, not a fixed point
